Can the SnapStone® floating flooring system be installed over radiant heat?
Yes. the SnapStone Floating Porcelain Tile System is approved for installation above radiant heat. It works best with QuietWarmth, a heated underlayment designed specifically for floating floors. Please Note: SnapStone should not be installed above heating systems that could expose the grid to temperatures above 115° F.
Can the SnapStone floating flooring system be installed over an engineered joist system with joists that are 19-2 on center with ¼" OSB?
Yes, as long as the floor is within tolerance ¼" in 10' or 1/8" in 6'.
If I install the SnapStone floating flooring system over my hardwood floor, will the hardwood be damaged if I ever choose to remove my SnapStone floor?
While the SnapStone Floating Porcelain Tile System shouldn't damage your wood floor, it may need to be refinished and door casings replaced if undercut.
I changed my mind from ceramic tile to the SnapStone porcelain tile flooring system, but I already have cement board installed. Can I install SnapStone over the cement board?
Yes.
Can the SnapStone floating tile system be installed over particle board?
Yes.
Can the SnapStone floating tile system be installed over ceramic tile?
Yes. The SnapStone Floating Porcelain Tile System can be installed over ceramic tile as long as the floor is within a tolerance of ¼" in 10' or 1/8" in 6'. Additionally, any loose or broken tiles must be removed and patched with a portland cement based patching compound. Consideration must also be given to the height at the transitions and door casings.
Can the SnapStone interlocking tile system be installed as a countertop?
The SnapStone interlocking tile system is not recommended for installation on countertops. However, we do offer SnapStone non-interlocking porcelain tile for this application. Also, SnapStone Flexible Grout is an excellent choice for any traditional tile installation including countertops.
Can the SnapStone floating flooring system be installed in a bathroom?
Yes. The SnapStone Floating Porcelain Tile System is ideal for any indoor environment such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, etc. SnapStone should not, however, be installed in higher moisture areas such as shower pans and saunas.
Can the SnapStone flooring system be installed outdoors?
No, however, the SnapStone Floating Porcelain Tile System can be installed in 3-season rooms.
Can the SnapStone flooring system be installed in an environment reaching below freezing temperatures?
Results from extensive freeze-thaw tests indicate the SnapStone Floating Porcelain Tile System and grout performs well in applications such as 3-season porches or summer homes, as long as they are indoor applications and not subjected to rain, snow, standing water, or any other environment where moisture would get under the flooring system.
Can the SnapStone flooring system installed on stairs?
The SnapStone Floating Porcelain Tile System is designed and warranted as a floating floor system, and is not recommended for stair applications. We recommend SnapStone non-interlocking (or raw) porcelain tile, using traditional installation methods. If you choose to use SnapStone interlocking tile on a stair application, it will need to be fully adhered using a high-quality construction adhesive and a stair nose at the edge.
Can I install the SnapStone flooring system under a wood- or gas-burning stove?
No.
Can the SnapStone flooring system be installed in a large area flowing through my kitchen, laundry room and bathroom?
Yes.
Can the SnapStone interlocking porcelain tile system be installed on the wall?
No. However, Snapstone offers non-interlocking (raw) tile for this application.
