tiling under toilet
  • I have read that the weight of a vanity can cause the grout to crack, so do not lay the tile under a vanity. If that is the case, what keeps the weight of the toilet when bolted down from causing the grout to crack?

    SnapStone reply:
This is a very common question.

The weight of the vanity or the weight of a pool table, large appliance, toliet or any other heavy object that's placed on a SnapStone floor won't cause the grout to crack if the floor is prepped properly.
The concern is if the object that's placed on the floor is so heavy that it restrists the ablity to allow the floor to float then the possibility of grout cracking exists.
My experience shows that even if heavy objects, toilets included, are placed on the SnapStone floor if perimeter gaps are maintained then there won't be any problem. The SnapStone floor won't move but the structure around will.
